Perfect portraits of a modern day mega city. These particular shots are of Shinjuku. It is a major commercial and administrative center, housing the busiest train station in the world (Shinjuku Station)
Chernobyl is a city located in the northern part of Ukraine, near the border of Belarus. On April 26, 1986, Reactor #4 at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant near the town of Pripyat, Ukraine, exploded. The explosion took place at around one in the morning while the neighboring town of Pripyat slept. Four workers were killed instantly. Forty hours later, the residents of Pripyat were ordered to evacuate, and most never returned; By that time, many of the residents had suffered varying degrees of extreme radioactive poisoning. The city was cleared out in around 4 days.
In 2007 Alan Weisman wrote a book called ‘The World Without Us’. It is a book about what would happen to the natural and built environment if humans suddenly disappeared. He uses Chernobyl as an example of what happens to abandoned cities over time. It is a great book and their is also a documentary based on the book by the discovery channel.

This blog is a collection of photos I have found around the internet. From famous battles, great sporting moments or just anything I find to be thought provoking. I do not take credit for any of the photos and any uncredited photos are because I have been unable to find the photographer/artist. Enjoy :)
