Tank Man

The Tiananmen Square protests were caused by the death of anti-corruption official, Hu Yaobang and resulted in the deaths of around 3000 protesters. The identity of the man in this image is unknown, however their are many rumours and stories about the mans possible fate. He overnight became a worldwide symbol of bravery and hope and this image remains one of the most important pictures ever taken.
